Hack Report: Osx86 on Asus M3N78 working

3 år, 0 månader sedan

Got my hackintosh working yesterday after lots of hassle. Yeay!

Specs:

Motherboard: Asus M3N78
Memory: 2 x Kingston 1024MB DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz / 2×512kB Socket AM2
Graphics card: Asus GeForce 6200tc 256 MB
Optical: Samsung Internal SATA DVD±RW 22x
HDD: 2 x Western Digital 1 TB SATA

Problems I had:

  • I bought hardware without checking if they where compatible. I’d recommend to go Intel with a supported setup.
  • Started with a IDE DVD drive and the SATA disks. Did not work so I bought a SATA DVD drive instead.
  • Onboard graphics card did not work. GeForce 6200 works like a charm.
  • The hard drives had to be set to AHCI mode in BIOS instead of SATA.
  • One of the hard drives had to be set on SATA channel 0 (first one) and the DVD drive on channel 1 (second one) to avoid “still waiting for boot device”.
  • USB worked randomly at first. Probably caused by my keyboard having a USB hub built in. When I used a PS2 keyboard and just the mouse on USB it worked.
  • Had to change the order of the hard drives in BIOS at one time to get it to boot. Dont know if I mabye installed to the wrong one.
  • The DVD needs to be set as first boot priority in BIOS.
  • In installation choose “customize” and select Vodoo Kernel, NVInject Default, Realtek r1000, Sata drive icon fix, Seatbelt.kext and that ONLY.
  • After installation you need to press F8 when prompted and then boot with “-f -v” to have it reload kexts and -v is just for verbose mode so you can se whats going on.
